The Green River Valley Amateur Radio Society was organized in August of 1995 with the call KB9LKO. A vanity call was assigned in September 1996 as K9WM. The organization was formed to promote amateur radio in the Quad Cities and surrounding area of Illinois and Iowa, as well as to provide a forum for active amateurs to mentor other amateurs to improve their skills.
Our members are active in many areas: contesting, DXing, designing and building, low power (QRP) operation, VHF and UHF operating, county hunting, and other related activities. Our members possess a broad set of skills and are willing to share those skills with other interested amateur radio operators, or persons interested in joining the hobby. Also, as an affiliated American Radio Relay League radio club, we coordinate and provide amateur radio license testing on a regularly scheduled bimonthly basis.
The club meets the second Saturday of each month at 0900 hours in the Rock Island County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) building, located in the Indian Bluff Forest Preserve, 6120 - 78th Avenue, Milan IL 61264. (See map)
Take a look at our calendar for the next scheduled meeting. We look forward to getting to know you!
